Tilt & Slide vs. Other Types

In contrast to old fashioned sliding doors that move along a bottom track, tilt and slide doors function a bit differently. A half rotation of the handle lifts the sash up and out so that it slides horizontally, parallel to the fixed portion. The entire sash is lifted off the track and can be effortlessly slid open or closed.

By rotating the handle 180 degrees, the tilt function is engaged. Just like a tilt and turn window, this tilts the entire door sash inwards for ventilation. Thus, you can safely leave it slightly open without letting, children, pets or others in or out. It also minimises the ability of bugs to fly in if not using a fly or insect screen, particularly compared to having to leave the door open as with most patio doors.

First, choose from among our many available timbers with both hardwoods and softwoods. Our selection includes pine, oak, larch, meranti, walnut, cherry, spruce and many more. Next, you can choose from the entire range of RAL colours or opt for no paint and instead one of our natural stains and finishes.

High-Performance Profiles Guarantee Durability

The anodised and powder-coated aluminium surfaces are highly weather resistant. The metal shell has been designed with effective rainwater drainage in mind, ensuring that water stays clear of the timber frame. Dust and dirt on the outside can easily be removed with a wet cloth. Neither the aluminium nor the glass require regular upkeep or cleaning. Thus, aluclad timber doors maintain their appearance for a very long period of time, constituting some of the most durable frame types, and meaning little work for the homeowner.

Barrier-free

Low threshold or barrier-free flush thresholds are also available whether to assist the elderly, prevent children from tripping or to just make life a little easier. Barrier-free tilt and slide doors are produced in accordance with ISO regulations and well worth considering for new projects and renovations.

Strength & Security

Large glass surfaces can be a tempting target for intruders. This is why Neuffer offers high security doors with many upgrade options, including:

For ground level doors, laminated safety glass should be installed at least on the outer pane. Roller shutters are an additional option which offer the benefit of improving security, insulation and privacy simultaneously.

U-values & Thermal Performance

With glass comprising most of the overall door surface, it is important to choose the appropriate glazing for your desired energy-efficiency needs. We offer both double and triple glazing options, various warm edge spacers and optional argon gas filled spaces between panes. The distances between panes can also be changed to provide larger gaps capable of better insulation.
