Our Door Materials Compared

When it comes to choosing the material for the door frame and sash, no one option is necessarily better than another. Rather, certain door types are compatible with selected materials and each option brings its own unique benefits that will be more suited to certain requirements and preferences than others.

uPVC

With its low-maintenance sleek surfaces, this material is an affordable modern material that requires little upkeep and is highly customisable. A wide range of different RAL colours and wood decors can be chosen from for the finish, for example. These are easily applied during door manufacturing via a professional high temperature foiling process that ensures excellent UV resistance and durable vibrance. Beyond design, uPVC also scores when it comes to energy efficiency as its core consists of multiple chambers that trap dense air. This reduces energy loss via conduction, ensuring good thermal insulation.

Wood

Used for centuries in the door building sector, wood remains a popular favourite due to its natural sturdiness and soundproofing. Aside from these key functional properties, it also adds charm to interiors. Thanks to our various timber types, such as pine, spruce, oak and more, bespoke grain patterns and textures can be chosen to ideally soften modern architecture. Beyond this, there are a range of water-based varnishes and acrylic colours available that are applied during production for the ideal tone and finish.

Aluminium

Naturally strong, this metal ensures excellent impact resistance and break-in protection for large sliding patio door fronts. At Neuffer, we also anodise its surfaces to enhance anti-corrosion and anti-rust properties. This makes for impressive durability and means doors can effectively withstand much wear and tear from the elements.

Aluminium clad wood/uPVC

Our two metal clad door material options combine the benefits of two quality materials; an uPVC or wooden core shows on the inside and brings its excellent insulation or charming patterns, for example, while external cladding improves durability and further protects the door. In terms of design, matching or contrasting colour finishes are available for both the exterior and interior face. For the metallic finish, professional powder-coating is then used to achieve a lasting, high-quality surface tone.
