Ideal for balconies, terraces, and ground floors alike, our French doors feature large, glazed surfaces encased by slim frames. Available in numerous colours and a range of glazing types, they create elegant design, and fill the interior with light, forming a harmony between inside and out. Quality performance is also guaranteed thanks to the doors' customisable security fittings as well as a selection of different materials and profiles.
The Advantages of French Doors
French doors are a particularly versatile product. They can be configured with up to four sashes, for example, which can be fixed to create a wide, secure front. Alternatively, just one or two door panels can be selected. Compared to our sliding patio doors, which require more installation space, this also makes French doors a good solution for smaller openings where full use of the space is still desired; the two sashes can tilt ajar, for example, but also swing fully out to provide a full opening as well as varying degrees of nuanced ventilation. To ensure excellent door security we work with quality suppliers, like those shown below, for fittings and sturdy profiles.
The Secure Tilt and Turn Opening Explained
Our French doors can be fixed and not open, or rather feature a tilt and turn system, which works as explained below:
- Closed: when the handle faces down, the door is closed. All quality metal pins are secured in the locking plates.
- Turned: once the door handle is moved clockwise to 90°, all pins are released, and the sash can be swung fully open to the interior on its hinges.
- Tilted: when the handle is set to 180°, the sash will lean out of its frame at the top by around 15° and stay fixed at the bottom.
The doors can be configured with this full tilt and turn system or also only turn without tilting. If the latter is selected, customers can choose whether the sash should swing to the inside or outside. Whatever exact mechanism is chosen, excellent security, up to a high burglar resistance class of RC2, can be relied upon thanks to a customisable number of durable metal locking points and handles that can optionally be locked with a key.
uPVC
Modern and affordable, these French doors provide an excellent price to performance ratio while also being low maintenance as their sleek surfaces can be easily wiped clean. Thanks to multiple chambers in its core, the material is also highly insulating because dense air is trapped, which helps to prevent energy loss via conduction. To add a customisable touch, various quality RAL colours and wood door decors can then also be selected from. These are applied via a high temperature foiling process during production, making for a UV-resistant and durable finish that holds its perfect vibrance.
Wood
Although they tend to be a little more expensive and require increased upkeep, wooden French doors pay back when it comes to bespoke design and softening the interior. Different timbers, such as pine, spruce, and more, are available, for example, that add unique grain patterns and textures. To further customise this charming door design, a range of water-based varnishes or acrylic RAL colours can also be selected from to achieve the perfect finish. These are applied during manufacturing to ensure a lasting and professional surface. Beyond style, it is also worth noting that wood brings natural sturdiness and soundproofing.
Aluminium
Boasting unparalleled resistance, these French doors provide natural strength that makes for highly effective break-in protection. During production they are also anodised, which gives anti-corrosion and anti-rust properties for excellent wear and tear against the elements as well as impressive durability. Beyond this, the sleek surfaces can be easily wiped clean and are customisable in several colours and decors that are applied via powder-coating.
Aluminium clad wood/uPVC
Featuring a wooden or uPVC core that shows on the interior and clad by strong metal on the exterior, these two composite options make deciding between door materials a touch easier. The charming patterns and natural soundproofing of wood or the low maintenance and insulation of uPVC French doors can still be taken advantage of while the cores are protected on the outside, increasing product life and impact resistance.
Whatever door material you choose, our products can be tailored to suit your property thanks to our wide selection of finishes, handles, and glazing types.
