Whether for terraces, balconies, or garden dining areas, sunshade systems maintain a comfortable temperature for both interiors and exteriors, while also providing UV radiation protection. In addition, our sunshade products can add security and extra insulation.
A Range of Customisable Products
At Neuffer we supply a range of different sun protection solutions from pergolas and awnings for terraces to roller shutters for windows and doors. To have sunshade products perfectly suit different customer preferences and requirements, many different parts can be tailored. Our shutters can come with different box shapes to add style to exteriors, for instance, and a wide range of colours are available for a personalised finish. Beyond this, customers can choose various patterns for awning fabrics, lighting options can be added to pergolas, or smart home integration is available. For Windows (and Doors)
Our sunshade roller shutters can be installed above windows, French doors, and certain patio doors, whereas venetian blinds are compatible with windows. Beyond this the products differ in that roller shutters feature an uPVC or aluminium blind or “curtain” that descends from a storage box over the window or door. The blind can be stopped at a desired height. If it is stopped when partially descended, small holes can let a little light or sun rays through whereas if the blind is fully rolled down, interiors can become very darkened for sleep and excellent security is provided.
Venetian blinds, on the other hand, feature connected sunshade slats, rather than a blind or curtain sheet, that descend from a storage box. These slats can come in slightly different shapes to provide darker or lighter interiors when fully descended. Our z-shaped slats are best for covering bedroom windows, for instance, and provide the quietest operation. Differently to roller shutters that slide vertically up or down, venetian blind slats can be angled to various degrees to provide nuanced shade depending on the angle of the sun while keeping interiors bright.
For Terraces, Gardens, and Balconies
An awning or pergola is ideal at providing shade for exterior spaces. Awnings feature rolled material that can extend out on supports from a storage station attached to walls. The material is made from an acrylic that is water resistant in that it can protect users from light rain while also providing good UV radiation resistance from the sun and necessary shade. Striped or plain motifs for fabrics are available in different colours from beige to black, alongside decorative edging, and there is the option to choose between a crank or smart home integrated motor opening.
For customers who would prefer a more permanent sun protection solution that provides enhanced rain protection, we then offer pergolas. These sunshade products feature a roof with slats that can be fully closed or angled to the desired degree for nuanced shading. The roof can sit independently on four posts and be installed at the property or in the garden. Alternatively, the product can be fixed on two posts and attached to a wall. Side zip screens can also be added for a very protected space.
Enhance Functional Performance
As well as design, our sun protection products can be customised in numerous ways to make certain features more prominent or to suit different building types. Roller shutters and venetian blinds can come with two different categories of box type, for example – front or top-mounted. Front-fitted boxes can be installed above windows (or doors) or in the embrasure, which makes them ideal for renovations and new-builds alike. Top-fitted boxes, on the other hand, are best suited to new-builds or renovations where the entire window (or door) is being replaced because they are installed in the reveal at the same time as the new product. Beyond the box type and design, various models are then available. Some, such as our premium roller shutter model feature special insulation for enhanced energy efficiency, for example.
When it comes to sun awnings and pergolas, these can then be similarly configured to perform in an upgraded way. Depending on the product, if a motor with a Somfy smart home system is chosen, for instance, wind, sunlight, and rain sensors can be selected, which automatically close or open the product depending on the weather conditions to ensure optimum use and protect properties.
Roller Shutters or Venetian Blinds – What’s the Difference?
The two systems primarily differ in their design and operation. Roller shutters are made from a continuous slatted panel, while Venetian blinds consist of individual slats. Both run along guides and are rolled up into a housing box.
Thanks to their compact design, roller shutters are particularly robust and weather-resistant. They can completely darken a room, providing optimal protection against heat.
For greater flexibility, Venetian blinds are the ideal choice. Their adjustable slats allow for either partial shading or full darkening of interiors, depending on your needs. Guided by rails, Venetian blinds are more stable than traditional blinds, operate quietly, and – like roller shutters – can also be motorised. With their clean, minimalistic appearance, they complement modern façades with large windows perfectly.

Terrace roofs and shading solutions are available in many variations – depending on the type, material, colour, dimensions, and operation, there are numerous ways to create a shaded outdoor space. Our sun protection products are made to your exact specifications, ensuring they perfectly complement the look of your outdoor area. This begins with the dimensions of your terrace: you decide everything, from the height, width and length of the shading system to the type of installation.
Our awnings can be ordered in a wide range of elegant colours, such as light grey, beige, brown or anthracite. Patterned or striped fabrics are also possible. If you choose a pergola, you can select from different colours for the slats and frame, as well as optional movable Zipscreens for the sides.
